Act 2 Scene 3

Place: Friar Lawrence’s cell

Time: Monday morning

Romeo visits Friar Lawrence’s cell and asks him to marry Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence is confused as he thought Romeo was in love with Juliet, but Romeo explains that Juliet’s Beauty made him forget about Rosaline, and now he only loves Juliet and how the only way to be with her is to get married today.

Quote: “In man as well as herbs, grace and rude will; And when the worser is predominant, Full soon the canker death eats up that plant.”

Friar Lawrence does a soliloquy and talks to the audience about how humans can be like herbs, good or evil, and when people or herbs are evil, it leads to death.
